Interests

Cultures & Languages

Traveling is arguably one of the most common interest of the 21st century, and certainly one of my passion too. But what I love even more than travelling is learning and experiencing in depths different cultures and ways of life. While traveling to different countries offers what I consider to be a preview of what life in these countries look like, actually living in them for a prolonged period of time is the only way to really start understanding the subtleties that differentiate one culture from another. Closely related to this, I also believe that languages represent cultures, and speaking foreign languages offers the possibility to break barriers between citizens of different countries. For these exact reasons I have lived so far in five different countries across three continents. I study languages as a hobby and although I am far from fluent I managed to learn conversational skills in some languages such as Japanese. This allowed me to meet and create what I expect to become life-long friendships with locals in the various countries I have lived in.

Entrepreneurship

As part of my MBA program at NUCB I had to write a thesis in the form of a case study. Knowing very little on entrepreneurship but with enough curiosity to explore this topic in more depth, I decided to write my thesis on the startup CBD MAP co-founded by my friend William Bevan, and assemble a real-life example of what it means and takes to be an entrepreneur at a seed-round stage of building a business. The experience of writing this case study increased my interest in entrepreneurship from passive curiosity to active learning.

Health & Fitness

While it is true that you are equally likely to find me at a pub than at a gym, I am a strong believer that a healthy diet and active lifestyle have a great impact on vitality and mental health. This is why I love reading and getting informed on various food benefits such as super-foods, but also on diet habits such as intermittent fasting. After working at the Salk Institute in San Diego, where one of the pioneer research on intermittent fasting was conducted by professor Panda and his team, and where I had the chance to organise and attend a fund raising event where he presented the findings, I adopted this intermittent fasting eating pattern as a lifestyle. 7 years later, I'm happy to see this lifestyle's health benefits gaining more and more knowledge and recognition around the world.
